No trip to Branson is complete without a detour north to Lambert's Cafe. No matter how long the wait, we go ahead and tough it out! It wasn't bad this time, only an hour. (We waited 3 hours down at the one in Foley, AL one summer.) We had a fun time, as it is always entertaining to watch people attempt to catch the "throwed rolls". Maddy loved the mashed potatoes and was entertained by the rounds of "Happy Birthday" being sung around the resturant, but didn't "catch on" to the flying rolls. Our waiter said "photographer" was in his job description, so we were able to capture a picture of all of us during Madelyne's first visit to Lambert's.

CAUTION: Throwed Rolls!!!

Hotel a la Madelyne
On a whim, Jerod suggested that we pack up and head to Branson for the weekend so the 3 of us could get away and have a fun little family trip. We stayed at a little hole in the wall place called The Alpenrose. It was cheap and clean, so it did the trick. We figured we'd be able to check in and put Maddy down for the night since it was about 9:30pm...past her bedtime. As you can see, she was hamming it up and was rearin' and ready to go! It was like she was saying "No night-night for me!"

Spring Break at the Farm
We had a great time with the Duncan's during their Spring Break visit. We really appreciated them teaching us about gardening and helping us to get our garden going. We planted lettuce, spinach, peas, radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, onions and potatoes, so the early veggies are in and now we'll just wait to plant the rest until it warms up some more.
The fish were really biting! Bass and perch were the catch of the day...we threw them all back, no fish fry this time! Zachary really had fun fishing and did so well!

Tulsa Home and Garden Show
Jerod, Maddy and I headed out to the Tulsa Home and Garden show. Somehow, our best finds were the huge funnel cake and a Tulsa Phone Book! Sounds boring, but the phone book is something I have been trying to get my hands on, so I was like a kid on Christmas morning!
Also, how ironic was it to run into Jamie from Taste of Home at the show? It was great to see her again! We hope to meet for lunch soon, since we live pretty close to Tulsa. Later, we ate dinner at a great Cajun place called Jazmo's Bourbon Street Cafe. It was phenomenal! Our waiter also had a 5 month old, so he was most helpful!

Taste of Home Cooking School
It's always fun to go to one of the shows! It brings back a lot of good memories and memories of hard work and great reward too. After doing over 100 of them myself, I still love watching them and learning new cooking tips and recipes right along with the rest of the crowd. Jamie Dunn, the culinary specialist and such a special friend to me, did a terrific job and was a joy to watch! Me, Maddy, Mom and Pam attended the sold-out event in Rogers. There were 1400 in attendance! We had a great time as usual and Maddy seemed to have fun too. She was quiet and made friends with all of the ladies around us. As you can see, she thought the recipes sounded so good, she'd just bite into one of the cookbooks we got in our goodie bag!

What we're up to....
It's hard to believe that Madelyne will be 5 months old this weekend! She is such a good little baby. She's reaching for everything, eating cereal (2nd attempt after terrible gas at the first go around), sitting by herself with an occasional tip-over and now has two teeth! She's becoming a lot of fun since she is playing and learning so much--and able to entertain herself for short periods of time! She seems to enjoy going places and since we've had a few really warm days, she is learning what "Do you want to go outside?" means!
All is well here...we are eager for the warm weather to set in. We'll be planting a pretty big garden, so I'm looking forward to doing that. The Duncan's all came to visit last weekend and we had a great time. We wish it would have been warmer (it was in the 40's!) so that we could have done some fishing and 4-wheeling. If any of you are looking for a "stay-cation" type of vacation, come on down!
Jerod and I are enjoying exploring Tulsa and discovering good resturants and shopping. We found a great Irish pub called Kilkenny's--terrific food and atmosphere. If you know of anywhere, clue us in!
Well, that's our update for now. Hope all is well with all of you. Enjoy Maddy's slideshow!
