Maddy's Check-up

Maddy's doctor is Matt James at Garrett Goss Clinic. We know Matt from church and had his little boy in our nursery class at church. Dr. James is relocating to the Tulsa area, so we are able to keep him as Maddy's doctor! Did we luck out or what? Maddy did well at her check-up. She is in the 75th percentile for head, weight and height. She is 18lbs and 26-1/2in...growing like a weed!!!

Razorback Fever!

Is it really possible to be ready for football season in April? We've got football fever after taking in the familiar sights and sounds at Razorback Stadium this past Saturday. We were worried that we would miss Razorfest, the annual Red-White spring scrimmage, due to the rain. We lucked out and the rain broke long enough for us to enjoy the game and a little sunshine. Madelyne thoroughly enjoyed her first trip to the stadium. She took a little nap, and then "cheered" with the cheerleaders near where we were sitting. She has this little screaming routine that she does when she is excited & wants to get someone's attention. She frequently greets people in Wal-Mart, resturants, etc. with The Scream. So, of course she wanted to use it to say "hello" to EVERYONE sitting around us at the ball game. She got a lot of laughs & smiles. She had a ton of fun screaming, cheerleading with Grandma and people watching--quite the little fan already!

Proud Big Sister!

No, no, no! Maddy is not going to be a big sister anytime soon. I knew as soon as I typed the title that it was going to spark some excitement...well at least with my mom. No, I am talking about me, being proud of my younger brother Daniel. I'm proud of him for a lot of things...becoming a civil engineer, being in both the Air Force Reserves and now the Navy, growing into a Christian man with strong convictions and beliefs and now marrying a wonderful girl. Daniel & Sarah were married on January 10 in an elegant ceremony--everything was so beautiful and perfect, yet laid back and fun! Sarah is such a terrific young woman & I am so excited to have her as a sister-in-law. She'll be graduating from the U of A next month with a degree in education. As you can tell, Jerod and I are proud of both of them and so happy for them! I could go on and on! We are so excited about them coming home from California for a short visit before they "put down their roots" in Jacksonville, FL where Daniel will be stationed. I thought I would share some of the pics from their wedding. Aren't they just gorgeous???

Madelyne & Great Grandma Browers

Since Jerod is in the Army National Guard, he has drill one weekend every month. He is still in his unit in Arkansas, so that means that me and Maddy head over to spend time with family while Jerod does his duty. This drill weekend, we hung out with the Duncan's and enjoyed a relaxing weekend. Pam and I took Maddy to see Jerod's Grandma and spend the afternoon with her. Maddy gave her hugs and listened intently like a sweet little girl. But don't let her fool you! She also pulled Grandma's hair! She loves to pull hair....hopefully we'll find a new hobby soon!

We had a great weekend and were happy to see Jerod when he returned from drill. Here's a cute pic of Maddy and Daddy in his ACU's.

Also, I'd like to ask all of you to pray for our military. With a new president in charge, it's hard to know what to expect as far as deployment goes. Jerod came home in October 2007, so he has been home for 18 months. We don't expect a deployment in the near future, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. With all of the recent changes in our lives, that's the last thing we need...Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers!

Blondes Beware!

Everyone in our family is brunette or darker. The first time Maddy was big enough to notice hair color was in December at the National Guard Christmas dinner. She stared at Rutherford's wife Wanda's blonde hair through the entire dinner. It didn't upset her, but she was just taken by her. Fast forward to April and our Easter picture photo appointment. As Maddy gets situated for the camera and the photographer begins talking to her, she screams, turns red and cries harder than she's ever cried before. Turning to me for reassurance, she looks back at the woman and zones in on the blonde hair! The photographer said she had never gotten a response like that from a baby Maddy's age. The hysteria continued throughout the entire shoot, so serious looks were more prevalent than smiles. Thank goodness we were only at the Wal-Mart portrait studio! Now when we go to do our bigger shoot, I know to be sure to request a brown-haired photographer. Thankfully, I did get a few cute shots while we were waiting for our turn.

Teething and Tummy Viruses--Yuck!

Last week was really miserable for Little Madelyne. She was acting normal, a little whiny due to teething, but still playful and her usual self. Then came the vomitting... As a first-time parents, experiencing this was a little scary. As soon as we got cleaned up, she immediately fell asleep and was pretty pale. After she woke up, then the diarrhea hit. I called her doctor's office and they ordered Pedialyte for 12 hours or until the vomitting & diarrhea ceased. Luckily, the vomitting stopped, but the other continued all week. Mitchell was on Spring Break and stayed the week with us. Not exactly the Spring Break a 16 year-old guy dreams about, but he was a trooper and a very helpful brother. By Thursday, Maddy seemed to be doing better, so we ventured to Tulsa to Andy B's for some bowling.

Soon after we got to the bowling alley, it was obvious that she was not 100%.

As luck would have it, I got hit with something similar Thursday night...not sure if it was a virus or food poisoning! I'm glad to report that we are both back to normal this week and I am so grateful!
