That's right! Maddy is crawling! You can just see the joy on her little face now that she knows she can get where she wants to go! She started crawling on Sunday, so Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Mitchell got to see her do it! Of course it was Grandma's flip flop that enticed her to get up on those knees and go! In other news, Maddy is getting her two top teeth--they are about halfway through. They are really bothering her--she's not cranky, but she will only take a few bites of food at her mealtimes before she spits and our faces, clothes and the kitchen floor are covered with the baby food du jour! Even homemade mashed potatoes couldn't stop her from spitting! (The cherry cobbler that I made tonight did though! She LOVED that!) I hope this little phase ends soon!

Maddy's 6 Month Photos
Maddy hammed it up for her first big "photo shoot." We had these done by Myra Wike in Bella Vista. She did a great job and was so easy to work with! Her phone number is (479)936-1533--for those of you who asked for that. We hope you enjoy the pics!

Grandma's Request!
Grandma requested some pics of Maddy standing and cruising from place to place.(We hope you enjoy them! Love and miss you!) At just over seven months old, we are convinced that Maddy will walk before she crawls! She wants to hold your hands and walk everywhere. She is getting more and more brave everyday. She will hold on to her toy box with one hand and reach for a toy with another. She loves to spend time cruising from the ottoman to her piano to the toy bin and back. What a big girl!

Sassy Maddy
Jerod and I have finally realized that Maddy is a sassy little girl! She can be sweet, bossy, demanding, snuggly, cute and funny all at the same time. Her latest "trick" is sticking her tongue out as far as it will go! She looks like a little lizard! I'm afraid she'll end up catching flies when we are outside playing... She sticks her tongue out for every reason imaginable: making faces in the mirror, to drink her bottle, take a bite of food, for "balance" when she is standing or trying to cruise along the couch. No matter the task, her tongue seems to be very helpful!

Our Garden is a Growing!
Our garden is really coming along! I think the garden is a bit larger than we originally planned, but I am looking forward to canning, freezing and of course, sharing a lot of veggies this summer.

We have started picking lettuce, spinach and broccoli--as you can see in Maddy's colander. We made a fresh, tasty salad last night--you just can't beat home-grown produce. I can't wait for the yellow squash and tomatoes!

The Binky Princess
I just went to check on Maddy while she was napping and thought I'd better snap a picture of the "Binky Princess" for her baby book.

Our nighttime ritual has changed several times as Maddy has grown. Right now, we are adjusting to having the last bottle at bedtime rather than waking up at 10 or 11 to drink it. It's an adjustment, but we are hopeful that she'll get the hang of it soon! As you can see, a few of her bedtime/napping must haves are:
(1) Every pacifier we own--This tip came from Carley & is one of the best tips ever! Maddy would lose her binky and I would be up many, many times a night to retrieve it. Now she can reach over and grab one of many. See how the one in her mouth is upside down? She did that!
(2) Baby--Her Cabbage Patch named Bennie Laverne (Where do they get those names?)
(3) Prayer Bunny--Sweet little bunny that recites "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep".
But, the most special of all is her "Special Blanket" aka "Daddy Blanket". This sweet little blanket was given to MeMe/Pam (Jerod's mom)as a baby shower gift when she was pregnant with Jerod. Maddy loves to snuggle and this blanket is perfect since it is light and airy.
Well, the Binky Princess will be waking soon....
