Maddy's First Day at Children's Day Out

I was so excited to find an ad in the paper announcing the Children's Day Out (CDO)program. Finally, a way to meet other moms and kids!!! Maddy's first day was today. I had a hard time leaving her, but she did great! There were 2 boys and 1 other girl in her class, all a few months older than her. Her teacher said that she played well, took a long nap and only got fussy right before naptime. She didn't want to eat her lunch or drink her bottles...guess she was still trying to figure out why Mommy wasn't giving those things to her. She made up for it and ate her lunch when she got home, then turned around and ate dinner a couple hours later. I'm relieved that she did well, but missed her so much today! I got some much needed cleaning done, so I feel like I accomplished something during my "break". I'm hoping to get to help out as a substitute or assist in some other way at CDO so that I can meet some more of the moms.

Maddy ready for "school". She's checking out her new shoes & kicking her legs in excitement.

Maddy on the ride to school. She has really become attached to her "Special Blanket", so she carried it around at school today. We're down to only having the Binky at naptime, bedtime and in the car.

Maddy after school. She wouldn't stay still long enough for me to get a picture of her in her cute new dress. She picked it out all by herself! (Pulled it off the rack at Target!--If only all decisions were that easy!)

Day Trip to "The City"

The three of us waiting for the sea lion show to begin. (Maddy watching the ball sail through the crowd.)

By reading the title, you are probably thinking, "Does this poor girl get out anymore?" Well, let me clarify. In Oklahoma, Oklahoma City is referred to by everyone as "The City". So, that's where we headed today. We wanted to take advantage of the "cooler" weather and spend the day outdoors, so we decided to check out the OKC Zoo. It is now on my list of favorites! Great landscaping, neat exhibits and just a nice overall atmosphere. One of the best parts was the military discount, which allowed our whole family to get into the zoo for $7.00 total--what a deal!

We had taken Maddy to the Tulsa Zoo a few months ago. At that time she was much more interested in the people than the animals. Today, she absolutely loved the animals and did a great job looking at them as we pointed them out to her. She would jabber and clap as we looked at the various animals. We also watched the sea lion show, where the balls they used in the show kept her attention and had her shouting, "Ba, Ba, Ba!" (Ball!) She clapped for the sea lions and seemed amused that everyone else at the show clapped along with her! The neatest part about today was that the bears were very active and came up to the window where we were watching them. Maddy loved them! We also checked out the Bass Pro Shop (when near Bass Pro, the husband must go!) Maddy continued her day of animals and pointed at all of the wild turkey, deer heads and other "stuffed animals." What a fun day! Days like this are what it's all about...:-)

Hey homies...This is how Maddy rolls...she always has one foot up on the stroller, shopping cart, whatever!

Maddy "touching" the bear!

Our Growing Family...

Jerod and I are excited to announce that we are expecting our second child! It seems unreal that all of this is happening again, but we knew we wanted to have our kids fairly close together. I'm due March 2, so the kiddos will be almost 17 months apart. Needless to say, we'll have our hands full, but it should be a lot of fun for all of us. I wanted to post the ultrasound pics, but don't have them on CD and my camera is on the fritz. The baby was "hiding" behind the placenta for the "photo op", so it's really hard to see!!! Dr. Sarver commented that perhaps this baby is a bit of a trouble-maker! We'll see. We're starting to choose names since Jerod and I like having the name picked out before we find out the sex of the child. So, only 8 weeks or so to have that nailed down. We have the boy name--Gavin Jerod Duncan, but need a girl name... Well that's our news for now!

Maddy on the Go!

I'm ashamed to say that I have taken over a month to post pics of Maddy walking. That's probably because I have been chasing her all over the place! It was so neat to watch her take her first few steps, then add a few more steps to her "record" every day. I'm enjoying her ability to follow me from room to room rather than having to tote her along with laundry, etc. She loves to trail behind and see where we are headed next. I'd love to attach a pedometer to her and see how many steps she is really taking! She turned 10 months old on Saturday...she's about 21 pounds and right at 28-1/2 inches tall. She loves to fall on stacks of pillows, play patty-cake, dance to the music on the TV, go to Wal-Mart and play with Mommy and Daddy. She has grasped the concept of "No" and does obey most of the time. She's a sweet baby and growing up way too fast!

I had to add this picture! Too cute..what a little poser!
