Warning: THIS IS GROSS!

There are some things that never cross your mind when you daydream about what your child will look like, act like, the cute little things they will do, etc. Especially little things they do that seem so bizarre or are, okay, let's be honest...irritating. Here is our sweet little Madelyne, who enjoys gagging herself..that's right...gagging herself. This is the second (and messiest) time she has done this in the car on the way to town. Why would a kid enjoy this? Not that you all want to see this mess, but thought I'd share a dose of our reality!!! It is the craziest thing in the world! I talked with a couple of moms at CDO who said they'd had similar experiences, so I'm not worried yet. I have to applaud my hubby who undressed Maddy and cleaned her up, plus wiped down the carseat and car while I ran into Wal-Mart to grab some clothes for her. What an afternoon!
Told you it was gross...>

Trick or Treat!

Today was Maddy's "Parade of Costumes" & Halloween Party at Children's Day Out. She was pretty tired today and not sure what to think of everyone walking around in costumes. She wasn't upset, just not real happy either. (Explains the solemn looks in the pictures.) Regardless, she looked too cute as a "Little Leopard Kitty"! She sat still for me to draw her nose and whiskers and didn't mind wearing her costume. The other kids in her class were a skunk, ladybug, frog and Mickey Mouse. The kids all looked cute! We all got to walk to the grocery store, dentist office, florist and funeral home where each business greeted the kids and gave out treats. It was really a neat little event. I'm sure Maddy will be more interested and excited next year!

IT'S A BOY!!!!

Yea!!!!!!!!!!! We are so excited to announce that we are expecting a little boy. I couldn't help but notice the glow on Jerod's face, knowing he was going to have a son. I'll never forget the pride in his eyes... Our little guy will be named Gavin Jerod Duncan, as some of you know. He is doing well--everything looks good and healthy. He is 1 lb. 1 oz. and 10 inches long. He had his hands over his face during the entire ultrasound, so we didn't get to see his facial features. We did get to have a DVD made, so that was neat. I am glad that we know so that we can start planning more for his arrival!

Maddy's Birthday Party!

Maddy's party was last Sunday. It was so great of our families to travel over here..I know they wouldn't have missed it! Maddy played so hard all day...with her new presents, outside, with Rosie (MeMe's dog) and just having a good time. She seemed a little under the weather, but kept on going. (We are both sick with a cold this week.)She studied her cake before deciding that the Elmo faces needed to be licked. She licked the eyes and nose off of each one! Then she kept leaning over to lick more frosting. By the time she was through, she had a ton of colors on her face! She seemed to have a good time. She also really liked her musical Elmo balloon. Thanks to everyone for her fun toys and goodies!

Out at the Pumpkin Patch

Jerod and I wanted to be sure to take Madelyne out to a pumpkin patch this year. Little did we know there would be one a few miles from the farm. Check out their website: www.rusticacres.net It's a neat little place with pumpkins, hayrides, a corn maze and other fun stuff for the little ones. Maddy just enjoyed running from place to place and giving us a work out. She liked "leading" us through the corn maze too!

Our little glam girl!

Just had to share our little dress-up diva. She loves to play with my jewelry when I wear it, so I thought she'd like some of her own. We got her some little bracelets awhile back and I found a necklace for her at the $1 jewelry store I found in Tulsa yesterday (fun place!). Notice she borrowed my headband too! She's a girly-girl farm girl!

Maddy's 1st Birthday!!!!!

When people tell you that your kids will grow up fast....they're not kidding are they? It's hard to believe that Maddy is one! Her birthday was Thursday, so Jerod, Maddy and I had a mini-celebration. I made a cake and we let her do a practice round of blowing out her candle. She was more intrigued with the frosting. We already knew she'd be good at digging in! We went ahead and let her open the presents we got her. She loves her Elmo Live! and talking teapot. She did great ripping the paper and opening the presents--that was a lot of fun. We also had a birthday dinner with some of her favorites: chicken, potatoes and broccoli! It was a fun afternoon for the three of us. We are looking forward to her party next Sunday!

Almost 1....

Wow...Maddy's 1st birthday is tomorrow!Just thinking about it sends me into a whirlwind of emotions (pregnancy hormones? motherhood? aging?--why do I start crying at the thought of this milestone? :-)). It is so hard to believe that a whole year has gone by since our sweet little girl was born. It's been amazing to see her go from a tiny little baby to an independent toddler who can do so many things & has a personality all her own. Bittersweet, isn't it?

We are proud of our "BIG" girl and look forward to celebrating with our family next weekend here at the farm for the big party. Jerod, Maddy and I will celebrate together tomorrow night with dinner, a few presents and a "practice" cake & candle! It should be a lot of fun. Of course, I will follow up with pictures. Today though, we had Maddy's party at CDO. I made some Lollipop Cookies (colored sugar cookies that look like lollipops) and took balloons for the kids to enjoy. Maddy ate her cookie right off the stick like a pro--how she knew how to do that, I have no idea! More birthday pics and blogging soon....
